Opcina Centar - EFA 2010 Scholarships
Općina Centar Sarajevo provided an opportunity for 3 extraordinary students from this Sarajevo municipality to visit European Forum Alpbach in a beautiful Austrian village Alpbach, Tirol.
Two students from Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Sarajevo Ms. Jasenka Dizdarević and Ms. Mia Gušo participated in Technology forum, which has long been a highly respected fixture in Austria's and European research and technology scene. Ms. Alma Kujan, a student at Sarajevo School of Science and Technology participated in Alpbach Economic Symposium - "Did we waste the crisis", which analysed the socioeconomic consequences of the financial and economic crisis. Crisis management and the successful shaping of the future were at the centre of the discussions.
We asked Alma to give us a short feedback on EFA 2010: "European Forum Alpbach, for me, was an amazing and inspirational experience. Besides being educational and challenging, with discussions on current issues in the world, it was an excellent opportunity to meet new people and gain new perspectives. I left Alpbach with the aim of returning again."
Jasenka, Mia and Alma, along with 5 other EFA 2010 participants have joined IGAS and today they are our active members.
This would not be possible without support from Općina Centar Sarajevo. Thank you.
„Construction and Reality“ at European Forum Alpbach 2010
This year's European Forum Alpbach was held from August 19 to September 5, in a beautiful village Alpbach in Tyrol, Austria. The main topic was „Construction and reality“. In a unique atmosphere, speakers from a wide variety of disciplines discussed burning issues of our times with the participants, during this 3-week event.
An extensive social programme offered opportunities to continue debates outside the conference and seminar rooms. Tyrol day, International evening and several exibitons, concerts and fireside talks made this EFA even more valuable to it's numerous participants.
This year, IG Sarajevo provided scholarships for 5 persons, so in total, there was a group of 19 students from Bosnia and Herzegovina attending EFA 2010 and we are very proud of this result. What characterized this event for scholarship holders from our country was a fireside talks with Mr. Valentin Inzko, the High representative and European Union Special representative and Mr. Ivan Barbalić as Permanent representative and Chief of permanent mission to UN, as well as others speakers at EFA 2010.
The special nature of the European Forum attracts more than 3,000 participants every year. Held annually since 1945, the European Forum Alpbach enjoys a long tradition in providing in-depth teaching on many aspects with the aim of advancing the training and working experience of European graduates, post-graduate students and young scientists. IGAS supports students from Bosnia and Herzegovina to attend this event.
